Spitfire 80th Anniversary Weekend Spitfire Experiences

TD314 ‘St George’ Celebrates the Spitfire 80th Anniversary at Sywell Aerodrome.

Over 200 visitors braved the cold weather and enjoyed the Spitfire on her 80th Anniversary at Sywell Aerodrome, Northamptonshire. Spitfire Cockpit Experience customers met with Flt Lt Parkinson aka ‘Parky’ and Aero Legends owner Keith Perkins for their close encounter with TD314. Many Spitfire experiences were enjoyed, plus a small tour of the Tiger Moth workshop was provided and the Merlin ground running engine fired up. Hardcore Spitfire enthusiasts were blessed with a rewarding flight departure by ‘Parky’ on Sunday evening.

I am writing to thank the Aero Legends team for a most enjoyable day at Sywell on Sunday.
The chance to sit in “St George”, feel the controls and talk to the enthusiastic pilot, was a a very special and memorable experience and I now understand why the Spitfire is such an iconic aircraft and why pilots love to fly them. The spectacular fly-by at the end of the day was the icing on the cake.
Thank you again for a great day.

Regards & best wishes,

Richard Bucknall

I would just like to say thank you very much to Keith, and ALL the team at Sywell, for providing me with the most entertaining day out today, the company was exceptional, the banter terrific, and the knowledge on offer uncomparable. And the offer of firing up the Merlin in its test bed was a very welcome surprise too. Special thanks to ‘Parky’ for being most informative and affable throughout. I have already recounted my exploits to many of my friends and wouldn’t be at all shocked to hear they have booked a day out too.

Thanks again folks.
