Shoot the Spit! Competition Winner
The Action Stations! online competition to find the very best photograph of a Spitfire in flight
We’ve received some truly stunning photographs of the Spitfire in flight, and many thanks to those who made the effort to enter.
It was a close call between a couple of people, but we’ve made a decision.
In the end we chose the image that was not only the most captivating, but the one which symbolises what we are trying to do with our Flights with the Spitfire, and that is to engage everyone with the Battle of Britain Memorial to The Few, to raise awareness of its’ existence and to encourage visits and fund raising for the new building to be called The Wing.
Therefore Stuart McKenzie’s remarkable shot, with the 80m, 3 bladed propeller - depicting the prop. which was fitted to both the Hurricane and Spitfire variants of the time of the Battle of Britain, perfectly positioned below the nose of BM597, takes the honours for the June competition.

Congratulations to Stuart, and we’d like to welcome you back down to Battle of Britain country again soon, to take up your prize flight!
Many thanks to all of you for supporting the competition - based on the interest shown this time, we will definitely be holding others in future, so keep coming back to our website for further information about other competitions to win one of our remarkable and unforgettable Flights with a Spitfire………….. and now Hurricane………….. or both if you fly on Battle of Britain Day!
Kind regards - Steve
