Description
Fly A Spitfire Formation
In 2019 we will be using the 1944 Mk IX Spitfires NH341 & PV202 (T9’s) for Spitfire FORMATION flights at Headcorn.
Arrival
Headcorn Aerodrome has free parking and good facilities. With excellent viewing areas of the runway, a café and licensed bar, we encourage your family and friends to savour the atmosphere and share your day – the Spitfire experience for all to remember. We operate from an original RAF dispersal hut positioned next to the grass runway. There is a large grassed paddock area for our customers between the hut and the aircraft positions, where you are welcome to picnic, sit and enjoy the flying action with your family/friends. After Check-In at our RAF dispersal hut, your day will start with a flight briefing where you will receive all the practical safety information required to fly in a Spitfire – as approved by the CAA.
Your Aircraft
A unique once in a lifetime opportunity to experience 20 airborne minutes in a T9 Spitfire with a part of your flight in formation with a second Spitfire. This is a very rare and unique experience, made even more amazing when you’re flying in an actual Spitfire used during WW2 combat. During your flight you will experience the sights, sounds and smells of the cockpit during flight and communicate with your pilot, viewing the skills and techniques it takes to fly such an historic aircraft. Soon after the take-off of both aircraft, you will form up to enjoy the hair raising thrill of being part of a Spitfire Squadron sortie to the English Channel.
Photography and video
Spitfire Formation flights in the T9’s have video equipment on-board and the opportunity for some amazing formation video for lasting memories of your day is not to be missed. The video option will be offered to our customers after their flights. Spectators and family members can take photos and videos from the ample viewing areas assigned in safe positions at the aerodrome.
